Position Summary:

 

This position will provide warranty claim handling and failure analysis necessary to support defect and cost reduction goals, as well as support customer satisfaction.

 

 

 

Position Responsibilities

 

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

 

* Receive and process warranty part returns from Aisin customers. Parts must be reviewed for importance and priority, logged into a central database, communicated to product team, tracked through analysis completion and when necessary, shipped to Aisin NAP (North America Plant) or other labs for external analysis. 

* Perform material and/or product failure analysis using equipment located at AWA Warranty Center (Northville) as needed, including:

- Initial screening and visual inspection (Example equipment: camera, microscope)

- Functional testing including bench testing and in-vehicle replication (Example equipment: bench top functional testers, sound booth, electrical meters, laptop computers)

* Minor dimensional analysis (Example equipment: calipers, micrometers, 3D scanner)

- Teardown inspection and analysis

* Make investigation reports and communicate results to engineering and design teams

* Enter analysis results into central database and classify results 

* Maintain inventory levels of consumable necessary for warranty cage activities

* Work closely with the AWA-Seymour and AWA-Detroit Quality staff to develop a “One AISIN” team attitude.

* Support activities shown in association with the Aisin North American Quality Assurance annual job plan, as well as the Aisin NA long term business plan

* Complete tasks as assigned by Quality Management.

* Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:
* Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask 
* Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of cause and effect relationships
* Failure analysis and troubleshooting capability

* Ability to communicate technical information clearly to QA management, Engineering, and AISIN facilities, including email and technical report writing

* Physical ability to safely handle, review and analyze market claim parts
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access is essential

* Ability to learn and become familiar with the AISIN QA Center Data Information System and databases

* Strong Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint 

Beneficial Skills and Experience:
* Knowledge of Seven Basic QC Tools
* Strong root cause analysis and investigative skills

* 1-3 years of experience performing or supporting (Quality) automotive operations is preferred

* Reliability / Warranty / field claim experience is a plus 
* Automotive powertrain, chassis, body or electronics testing experience is a plus 

Education/Training/Certifications
* High School diploma required

* AAS/AS preferred

Work Environment Requirements
* Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
* Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
* Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
* Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements
* Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
* Must be willing and available to work such weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.


Travel Requirements
* Approximately 0-20% 
* Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
