Position Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-directed and motivated attorney to step into a Corporate Counsel role where they can gain experience, make significant progress and shine as a compliance professional with opportunity for advancement. The Compliance Counsel will essentially oversee and manage all compliance affairs for Aisin’s North American operations reporting directly to Aisin’s Vice President & General Counsel. This role is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

 

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day affairs relating to Aisin North America’s compliance and ethics framework throughout North American operations.
  • Implement and promote Aisin North America’s Code of Conduct throughout North American operations.
  • Review, draft and revise Aisin North America’s compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Implement and promote Aisin North America’s compliance policies,procedures and internal controls throughout North American operations.
  • Provide web-based and on-site compliance training to Aisin North America’s employees as needed.
  • Manage and oversee the Aisin North America’s internal compliance website.
  • Manage and oversee Aisin North America’s compliance hotline.
  • Handle and oversee all compliance-related investigations.
  • Regularly interface with and advise Aisin North America’s team members and executive management of potential risks in compliance and legal areas and propose risk mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate with Company’s service providers and vendors relating to training and other compliance-related services.
  • Track metrics and data from Aisin North America’s compliance program and report on same to senior management.
  • Keep General Counsel and senior executives up to speed on all major compliance developments and provide weekly reports on status of progress.
  • Other compliance-and-legal -related assignments as needed.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • JD from ABA accredited law school (non-practicing JD’s acceptable)
  • No less than 5-10 years’ verifiable prior experience handling compliance-related matters in a corporate setting.
  • Verifiable experience involving change management, promotion, implementation and rollout of a corporate compliance program.
  • Good speaker that is significantly proficient with presentations on compliance.
  • Ability to effectively present to multi-national team members from different cultures.
  • Excellent and engaging communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Must have project management skills and ability to self-direct.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Japanese language capabilities.
  • Prior experience working in Japanese company.
  • Compliance professional accreditation (i.e. CCEP, CRCMP, etc.)
